cEDH.online has been around for a while now, but for most of that time it was the kind of site you’d land on once and not really have a reason to come back to. The look had aged, which matters more than it should for a format that’s played almost entirely through a webcam and a browser. There also wasn’t enough here to bring anyone back a second time. Both needed fixing together, as doing one without the other gets you nowhere.
So it’s been rebuilt, and the thinking behind it is pretty simple. Competitive Commander online is scattered all over the place! Games happen on SpellTable and Convoke, and pods get arranged in Discord servers you already have to know about. Tournaments get announced in places you already have to be watching, and the good writing and videos about the format are spread across a dozen different sites and channels. None of that’s a problem once you’re deep in it. If you’re not, it’s most of the reason people give up before their first game.
What this is meant to be is the place that pulls it all together. There are guides that take you from putting a deck together to sitting down at your first online pod, written for someone who’s played plenty of Commander but never over a webcam. The community reviews come from actually spending time in the servers. Each one shows the date it was checked, so you can judge for yourself whether it’s gone stale. The tournament calendar does the time zone maths for you, which sounds like a small thing until you’ve worked out a start time wrong and missed one. And the articles and videos worth an evening get collected as they come out, so keeping up doesn’t mean following 15 channels yourself.
There’s loads more coming. More reviews as I work through the servers worth covering, more of our own writing, and a Discord where you can actually find a game rather than another room to lurk in. If there’s something you keep wishing existed for online cEDH, let me know through the contact page! At this stage, that feedback really does shape what gets built next.
